Overview
The landscape is undulating, with rocky hill ranges roughly running east to west and broken up by green
wetlands and forested wetlands. The park's centrepiece is the 811-meter-tall Bandhavgarh hill, which is
surrounded by sloping valleys. Small, marshy meadows called "bohera" in the area mark the end of
these valleys. Along with bamboo, sal woods make up the majority of the tree cover in these regions,
which range in topography from steep slopes to undulating forests to open meadows. Under Project
Tiger, it was eventually recognized as a tiger reserve in 1993. Bandhavgarh National Park serves as a
pristine national home for a variety of local fauna. This comprises sambhar, leopard, sloth bear, wild
boar, gaur (Indian bison), and the majestic tiger.
